Robotics Definition

Robotics Definition

Robotics technology is a branch of technology that deals with the design, construction, operation, structural disposition, manufacture and application of robots. It is an interdisciplinary branch of science and engineering that includes mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science and others, which enhances the usage of robots in various industries.

Robotics technology has become a major factor in the automation industry, especially in the automotive industry, where robots are used in manufacturing operations.

Scientists, engineers and students who are interested in robotics technology can join robotics technology conferences and robotics technology workshops.

As a technology that’s already being integrated into many of the consumer gadgets we use every day, robotics technology is sure to make its way into your business in the near future.

While it’s still early days, the potential of this exciting technology is huge. In fact, the market for robotics is expected to grow to a whopping $153 billion by 2020.

History Of Robotics

History of Robotics

The history of robotics is a long one, and the term ‘robot’ has a very interesting origin. From ancient times, humans have been fascinated with creating mechanical devices to serve them, ever since the creation of the first mechanical apparatus by the ancient Greeks.

The word ‘robot’ itself comes from the Czech word ‘robota’, which roughly translates to ‘forced labor’, and was first used in the 1920s by a play-writer named Karel Capek in a play called R.U.R. (Rossum’s Universal Robots). This play introduced the idea of robots being used for labor, and was a major influence on the development of the robotics industry.

The first recorded example of a mechanical humanoid was built in 542 AD by the Chinese craftsman Yan Shi, who created a wooden statue that could “walk” across a bridge. The first “modern” robots with complex mechanical systems were created in Europe in the late 18th century.

The word “robot” itself was first used in the play R.U.R by the Czech writer Karel Capek in 1921, which stands for “Rossum’s Universal Robots”. This play introduced the idea of the robot being programmed to assist with chores and work, and was the catalyst for the modern idea of robots.
